December 2023 – January 2024, the road from Cairns (the nearest airport) is closed due to cyclone damage. You can still get to Port Douglas from Cairns by road, via the range roads, Mareeba and Julatten. The drive will be about 2 hours. Alternatively, various boats are operating a ferry service between to Port Douglas from Cairns, and back. We’ll update our information as soon as we know the road is open. Most of the Great Barrier Reef cruises are operating in December and January, but the Daintree Rainforest cannot be reached by road currently. We recommend this Great Barrier Reef snorkel tour.

If you’re visiting Port Douglas without a vehicle, you can use taxis, shuttle buses and tour vehicles, but you may like to stay closer to the heart of Port Douglas village (near Macrossan St. and the Port Douglas Marina, or Four Mile Beach).

We’ll help you choose, and our map is fully interactive, you can click through and book directly from here.
